EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 24, 2022) – The first home game for Mount St. Mary's women's water polo takes place this Friday as the Mount hosts Princeton at the ARCC Swimming Pool. That game kicks off conference play in the Collegiate Water Polo Association.

MOUNT UPDATE

Going 1-4 during their weekend in Erie, the Mount took a win over Penn State Behrend before four defeats at the Curtis Robinette Memorial Invite. Close shaves with McKendree and Mercyhurst headlined the weekend.

Every player who participated scored against Behrend, led by Lauryn Thomas with four games. Rebecca Valentine posted nine goals during Saturday's play, and Serena Thurman added five on Sunday.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS

Princeton and Harvard return to the pool for the 2021-22 season after sitting out last year due to the pandemic. The Tigers stand a hearty 9-2 riding a seven game win streak, registering almost 46 percent of their goals. The Crimson are even better at 9-1 – their lone loss coming to Wagner. Sofia Carrera-Justiz leads Harvard with 27 goals and 22 assists.

Saint Francis U and Bucknell have tallied solid starts to their campaigns, posting five wins apiece. However, the Red Flash look to rebound from six straight defeats, the latest coming against Villanova. Bucknell is coming off a 3-1 weekend at Princeton, defeating Iona, SFU and VMI.

ALL-TIME SERIES

Mount St. Mary's went 0-4 against Saint Francis U and 0-2 against Bucknell last year. This season, the Mount fell to SFU 19-4 on January 30th. This weekend marks the first-ever matchups with Princeton and Harvard.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE

Mount heads to the Harvard Invite for a non-conference game with Cal Lutheran and CWPA games with Brown and Harvard.
