ABOUT FAIRFIELD:  Fairfield finished the 2021 season with a 22-14 record after splitting its four games in the MAAC Championship. Fairfield posted a 20-12 mark during the MAAC regular season to earn the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament.  The Stags opened the tournament with a sweep of Siena College in the quarterfinals but dropped both games in the double-elimination round over the last two days.

ABOUT LEHIGH:  Lehigh posted a record of 18-14 in 2021, including a 14-6 mark in the Patriot League.  The Mountain Hawks advanced to the Patriot League title game where they fell to Boston University, 9-2.  Lehigh was picked to finish second in the Patriot League Preseason Poll with Carley Barjaktarovich being named the Patriot League's Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.  Jayelynn Chesson and Gabriella Nori joined Barjaktarovich on the Preseason All-Patriot League team.

ABOUT NC STATE: NC State opened the season with a 4-1 record at the River City Leadoff in Jacksonville, Fla.  The Wolfpack posted wins over Winthrop, Jacksonville, Florida A&M and North Florida before falling to Western Carolina in their final game.  Aisha Weixlmann went 3-1 with a 0.47 ERA in four appearances and two starts at the tournament.  Kaylee Lambrecht went 8-for-18 (.444) at the plate to pace the hitters.

THE ALL-TIME SERIES vs. FAIRFIELD:  The Mountaineers are 1-1 all-time against Fairfield, playing both games in 2018 at the Towson Tiger Clash.  The Mount lost the first matchup, 4-0, on March 10, 2018, before coming back for a 2-1 victory the following day.

THE ALL-TIME SERIES vs. LEHIGH:  The Mount is 1-2 all-time against Lehigh with all three games coming at a neutral site.  The last matchup in the series was an 11-8 Lehigh victory at the UMBC Softball Spring Classic on March 20, 2010.  The first two games came on March 18 and 19, 2006, at the Bash at the Beach in Delaware.  The Mount won the first-ever meeting between the two schools, 6-5, before falling to Lehigh, 3-0, the following day.
