MOUNT STORY LINES
- Mount St. Mary's stretched its win streak to three with a 65-50 win over Central Connecticut on Sunday. Mezie Offurum led the Mount with 14 points and eight rebounds. The Mount jumped out to a 13-3 lead and held a 27-16 advantage at the half. CCSU got no closer than eight points in the second half.
- Defense has keyed the Mount's three-game win streak. The Mountaineers are holding the opposition to 53.0 points per game, 0.84 points per possession and 37.3 percent shooting from the field over the three-games. The Mount now leads the NEC in defensive efficiency (92.6) in NEC play.
- The Mount has been on fire from three-point range in Northeast Conference play, shooting 42.9 percent as a team. The Mount connected on 20-of-44 (.455) from beyond the arc in wins over Sacred Heart and CCSU this past weekend at Knott Arena.
- Fairleigh Dickinson holds a 35-29 lead in the all-time series with the Mount. Last year, the teams played a two-game series at FDU with the Knights capturing the opening game, 76-71 in overtime, before the Mount rebounded for a 74-61 win the following day. That Mount victory snapped FDU's seven-game win streak in the series. Due to Northeast Conference COVID policy, the Mountaineers had to forfeit their first matchup with Fairleigh Dickinson this season.
- Mount St. Mary's has held each opponent during its three-game win streak under 60 points. The Mount held three opponents in a row under 60 points in January of last year (Merrimack twice and CCSU). The Mount has not held four opponents in a row under 60 since a five-game streak in 2010.
- Up next, the Mount returns home to face Saint Francis U on Saturday, January 29, at 5:00 p.m. at Knott Arena.
