Frederick, Md. (October 29, 2025)—Mount St. Mary's pulled away in the second half to defeat Hood, 85-70, in an exhibition road game on Wednesday night.
Anastasios Rozakeas hit seven three-pointers en route to a game-high 21 points to pace the Mountaineers.
Rozakeas, a sophomore transfer from Florida State, hit 7-of-17 from three-point range to tally his 21 points while adding four assists and four rebounds as well.
Luke McEldon, a redshirt junior who transferred to the Mount from Santa Clara, added 18 points while going 7-for-7 from the field in the win. Graduate student
Xavier Lipscomb, a Preseason Third Team All-MAAC selection, added 17 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals for the Mountaineers while
Trey Deveaux, a graduate transfer from Western Illinois, chipped in 14 points and seven rebounds. Garrett Cox led Hood with 20 points, going 6-for-12 from three-point range in the game.
Leading 42-26 at the half, Hood used a 22-10 run over the first six and a half minutes of the second half to pull within four points at 52-48. The Blazers connected on 6-of-10 three-pointers over that span while the Mount went just 1-for-11 from beyond the arc to start the second stanza.
The Mount responded with back-to-back three-pointers from
Mason So and Lipscomb to push the lead back to double figures. After a Hood three-point play, the Mount scored the next eight points for a 66-51 advantage. The Mountaineers continued the surge, outscoring the Blazers, 31-to-9, to build its biggest lead of the game at 83-57.
Mount St. Mary's shot 43.1 percent (31-for-72) from the field while holding a narrow 47-to-45 edge on the boards. The Mount committed eight turnovers while dishing out 23 assists on 31 baskets.
Mason So, a junior transfer from UNC Greensboro, dished out a team-high seven assists in the win. Hood shot 31.9 percent (22-of-69) in the game.
The Mount took control of the game with a 13-0 run to establish a 21-8 lead six minutes into the contest. Deveaux keyed the run, hitting a pair of threes and a bucket in the paint for eight of his 14 points in the contest. Mount St. Mary's closed the half with the final five points on a Rozakeas three-pointer and a pair of McEldon free throws to take a 42-26 lead at the break.
Rozakeas led the Mount with 15 points in the opening half, hitting 5-of-10 from three-point range. Deveaux added 10 points and five boards while McEldon added seven points in the half.
The Mount hit 9-of-21 (.429) from three-point range in the half while holding a 26-21 edge o the boards. The Mountaineers had 12 assists and just three turnovers in the half.

- This was the Mount's first game in Frederick since a 77-62 loss to Bridgewater (Va.) on February 11, 1950, at the Frederick Armory.The Mount played 24 games at the Armory between 1936 and 1950, posting a 14-10 record in those games.
- This was the fifth all-time meeting between the Mount and Hood with all five coming in exhibition games.The Mount is now 5-0 against the Blazers.
- The teams combined for 97 three-point attempts in the game.The 45 three-point attempts by the Mountaineers would be a school record, but exhibition game stats do not count in the record books.The Mount finished 17-for-45 (.378) from beyond the arc in the win.Hood finished the game 17-for-52 (.327) from three-point range, and would have tied their school record for three-point attempts.

- Mount St. Mary's opens the 2025-26 regular season on Tuesday, November 4, at West Virginia.It will be the seventh all-time meeting between the Mount and WVU, and the fifth time the two teams have met in the season opener.
