Box Score EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 2, 2021) – Mount St. Mary's men's lacrosse could not handle the firepower of Georgetown today. Georgetown outshot the Mount 45-to-19 with Georgetown going 2-for-3 with a man advantage. The Mountaineers were led by Brendan Doyle and Aaron Weisel who both scored two goals apiece. Jake Carraway contributed five goals and two assists for the Hoyas to guide them to victory.
Dylan Furnback made four saves for the Mount, while Owen McElroy made three saves for the Hoyas.
Georgetown got a quick goal to jump out to an early lead within the first two minutes. Weisel responded with a solo effort to beat the defender and beat the goalie low to tie the game up. Georgetown went back up less than a minute later and never gave up the lead again. Georgetown scored three more goals to take a 5-1 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Georgetown continued to put pressure on the Mount in the second quarter with another quick goal to start off the second. Georgetown continued on their run and scored five more goals before Brendan Doyle scored with 1:07 left in the second quarter. Brenden McCarthy found Doyle cutting to the net and beat the goalkeeper off a nice pass from behind the net. The Mount went on 25:11 scoring drought that lasted from the first quarter to the second quarter.
The Mount scored its third goal of the game with another goal from Weisel to make it 11-3. Georgetown went on a 3-0 goal run to extend the lead to 14-3, until Doyle scored again with eight seconds left to make it 14-4 at the end of the third quarter.
Georgetown started off the fourth quarter with two quick goals to extend their lead to 12. Brenden McCarthy got his first goal of the season beating the goalkeeper off a tight angle. Georgetown scored the final goal of the game to make it 17-5.
