Myrtle Beach, S.C. (March 20, 2021)—Mount St. Mary's graduate student
Brian Sagendorf broke his own school record in the javelin on Friday to lead the Mount St. Mary's outdoor track and field teams at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational hosted at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium this weekend.
The Mount men's team had a pair of first-place finishes to highlight Saturday's performances.Â
John Wang won the 3,000m steeplechase in a time of 9:29.98, good for 10th on the Mount's all-time top 10 list. Teammate
Grant West finished fourth with a mark of 10:03.46. In the triple jump,
D.J. Hamilton had the top collegiate performance with a leap of 14.48m (47' 6.25") with
Cyre Hooper finishing fourth (14.00m, 45' 11.25").Â
Carter Holsinger's mark of 4.56m (14' 11.5") was good for second in the pole vault while the 4x400m relay squad of
Khalil Reid,
Dalton Oylear,
Brandon Briscoe and
Colin Kelly was second in a time of 3:25.31.
Matthew LeRoux advanced to the finals in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.77, and he finished in sixth in the final round.Â
Todd Charles was the third-fastest collegiate performer in the 100m with a time of 10.896 seconds while
Dylan LaNoue was fifth in the high jump (1.98m, 6' 6").Â
Justyn Seivright added a fourth-place mark in the 400m hurdles (55.11).
On Friday, Sagendorf launched a throw of 67.14m (220' 3") on his first throw of the competition to break his own school record of 65.65m (215' 5") set back in April of 2016. Teammate
Matthew Whitaker finished fifth in the javelin as well with a toss of 45.99m (160' 9").Â
Todd Charles advanced to the 100m finals with a time of 10.60 while
Andrew Jackson was fifth in the 10,000m with a time of 32:37.03.
For the women on Saturday,
Chalys Caruth was the top collegiate performer in the 400m dash with a time of 56.77 seconds.Â
Delaney McKnight was second in the high jump (1.63m, 5' 4.25") while
Tess Long finished second in the mile (5:10.38).Â
Sarah Purdy added a fifth-place nod in the 400m hurdles (1:08.11) while the 4x400m relay team of Purdy, Dominque Jeffery,
Jacquelyn Candito and Caruth was third with a time of 4:02.15.
Rachel Finn had a second-place finish in the pole vault while the women's 4x800m relay team had a first-place mark to pace the Mount women. Finn cleared 3.65m (11' 11.75") to earn her second-place nod. The 4x800m relay squad of
Mary Campbell,
Adria Pirozzi,
Emma Strickland and
Tess Long won in a time of 10:03.89.Â
Kenna Hopkins had a fifth-place finish in the javelin (37.92m, 124' 5") as well.Â
Alexandra Kay's third-place finish in the 10,000m moves her into ninth place on the Mount's all-time top 10 list.
