EMMITSBURG, Md. (August 2, 2025) – Continuing to impress on the international stage,
Annie Carey set a world record in the long jump at the United States Para Nationals in Oregon.
Battling in the T44 bracket, Carey delivered a jump of 5.19 meters, earning the mark on her second attempt. Competing in a mixed event with other brackets, she took second overall behind T64 competitor Beatriz Hatz.
In Paris last year, Carey eclipsed the Paralympics record for the long jump with 4.96 meters. The world record also pairs with the American record earned for the 200m at the Paralympics as well.
A rising junior for the Mountaineers, she has one event remaining – the 100m – later Saturday. She earned a time of 27.57 seconds in the 200m dash last Friday.
