SCHEDULE | LIVE RESULTS
MOUNT UPDATE: The Mount St. Mary's men's and women's outdoor track and field teams will be in action for the first time since May of 2019 when they head to the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge on March 12-13. The Mount had its 2020 outdoor season canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.Â
PRESEASON POLL: Mount St. Mary's is the preseason pick in both the men's and women's Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches Polls. For the women's team,
Mount St. Mary's returns plenty of battle-tested firepower for a possible championship run. Senior sprinter Kayla Barnes, who has made a career of appearing on the NEC medal stand, won the 100m and 200m dashes at the 2018 outdoor title meet. Veteran Rachel Finn looks to continue Mount's point-scoring tradition in the pole vault. Sprinter Dominique Jeffery was the top rookie 400m finisher in 2019. Mount hurdler Najae Nickerson is a multi-time medalist and was a key contributor to the program's indoor team championship in 2019. For the men, the Mount's
roster is littered with potential point scorers and past champions. Will Merritt captured the 2019 NEC Most Outstanding Track Performer (Distance) award after winning the 10,000m run and taking silver in the steeple chase. Veteran javelin thrower Brian Sagendorf is a two-time NEC champion and NCAA East Region qualifier (2019, 2016). Pole vaulter Carter Nave has made it to the NEC medal stand on multiple occasions. Meanwhile, jumper Dylan Lanoue captured the 2020 NEC Indoor MVP award after scoring 25 points from a pair of golds (high jump, long jump) and a fourth-place finish (triple jump).
UP NEXT:Â The Mount heads back to Myrtle Beach next week for the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational which will be held March 19-20 at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.
