Box Score EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 20, 2021) – The Mountaineers found their rhythm in the second half, but it was too late as Navy rides a strong first half to beat the Mount 8-5. Luke Frankeny, Kadin Kightlinger, Brenden McCarthy, Kelly Gouin, and Tim Bradley each score a goal in the Mountaineer's loss.
Navy's Jack Sweeny had a game high two goals on the day, while Spencer Rees made 12 saves to secure the win for the Midshipmen. Freshman Griffin McGinley made eight saves in collegiate debut for the Mount.
Navy started off the first quarter with a quick goal by Patrick Skalniak. Navy scored two more goals in the first quarter to take a 3-0 lead. In the second quarter, Navy scored three more goals to take a 6-0 lead at halftime.
Navy scored again to start off the third quarter and held their biggest lead of the game at 7-0. The Mount finally got on the board with a goal from Frankeny. Gouin scored an extra man advantage goal to end the third quarter trailing 7-2.
Navy scored an extra man advantage goal to start off the fourth quarter to put their lead back to six. The Mount closed out the game with a 3-0 run with goals from Kightlinger, McCarthy, and Bradley to put the final score at 8-5.
