Dylan LaNoue Breaks School Record in Triple Jump to Lead Mount Indoor Track and Field in Season Openers

Dylan LaNoue broke the school record in the triple jump to lead the Mount St. Mary's men's and women's indoor track and field teams today.  The Mountaineers had athletes competing at both the Navy Invitational and the Bucknell Bison Opener.

LaNoue broke the Mount's long-standing record in the indoor triple jump with a leap of 15.72m (51' 7"), besting the old mark of 15.60m (51' 2.25") that was set by Mark Tobias on March 6, 1983, at the IC4A Championships.  LaNoue finished in second place in the triple jump at the meet, and his mark is an IC4A qualifier.  Teammate D.J. Hamilton was fourth with a mark of 14.45m (47' 5").

Noah Sanders won the 500m dash for the Mount with a winning time of 1:05.00 to earn a spot at the IC4A Championships.  Todd Charles was second in the 60m dash with a time of 6.91 seconds while his fourth-place time of 22.18 seconds in the 200m is an IC4A qualifier.  John Wang finished in second place in the 3,000m run (8:41.00).

Other highlights at Navy included Carter Nave finishing fourth in the pole vault (4.70m, 15' 5"), Brandon Nichols fifth i the mile run (4:23.09), Will Stephenson fifth in the 60m hurdles (8.58) and Justyn Seivright fourth in the 500m (1:5.33).

Alexandra Kay was fourth in the mile run for the Mount women's team at Navy with Rachel Finn placing fifth in the pole vault (3.70m, 12' 1.5").  Simone Smith added a seventh-place finish in the long jump (5.53m, 18' 1.75").

At Bucknell, the Mountaineers had several top five finishes.  On the men's side, Billy Cook was fourth in the high jump (1.89m, 6' 2.25"), Carter Holsinger tied for second in the pole vault (4.50m, 14' 9"), John McKinney fourth in the 400m dash (52.48) and James Munlyn fourth in the 200m dash (22.99).  Alexandra Lawson advanced to the finals in the 60m dash with a time of 7.91 in the preliminary round and finished eighth in the finals with a time of 7.96.  Lawson was sixth in the 200m dash as well.

The Mount indoor track and field teams are now off until after the New Year when they will head to the Susquehanna Invitational on January 14-15.
