Akron, Ohio (February 8, 2020)--Isaac Kole won the mile run to lead the Mount St. Mary's men's and women's indoor track and field teams at the Akron Invitational. Kole was one of many top performances by the Mountaineers this weekend.
Kole, a week after breaking a 34-year old Mount record in the 1,000m run, continued his stellar season by winning the mile run in the Gold Division at Akron in a personal-best time of 4:11.27. In other highlights in the Gold Division events, Najae Nickerson advanced to the finals in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.91 in the prelims before finishing eighth in the finals. Dylan LaNoue posted a fourth-place mark in the high jump (2.03m, 6' 8") while also finishing seventh in the triple jump (13.84m, 45' 5"). Sean Fahey was fourth in the triple jump (13.97m, 45' 10") while Spencer Brown posted a sixth-place mark in the long jump (6.90m, 22' 7.75"). In the women's 200m, Kayla Barnes was third (25.45) and Dominique Jeffery fifth (25.76). Justin Kimble finished seventh in the 60m dash with a time of 7.00 seconds after recording a time of 6.96 in the prelims to make the final.
In the Blue Division events, D.J. Hamilton topped the field in the triple jump with a mark of 14.41m (47' 3.5") while Will Merritt was second in the mile run (4:20.45). In the women's 200m, Alexandra Lawson was fourth (25.25) with Chardane Logan finishing fourth in the 400m dash (57.78). Justyn Seivright was third in the men's 400m dash (49.89), Seun Sule fourth in the women's long jump (5.38m, 17' 8") and Cage Jones fourth in the pole vault (4.45m, 14' 7.25").
Up next, the Mount will send athletes to the Susquehanna Invitational on Feb. 15 before heading to the 2020 Northeast Conference Championships which will be held Feb. 21-22 at the Ocean Breeze Complex in Staten Island, N.Y.
