MOUNT UPDATE
In their return from the winter break, the Mount indoor track and field team had a strong showing at the Wesley A. Brown Invitational hosted by Navy last weekend. On the women's side, Najae Nickerson paced the Mountaineers with a first-place finish in the 60m hurdles with a winning time of 8.89 seconds while teammate Emily Lewis finished third (9.11) and Karington Smith seventh (9.45). In the high jump, Chelsea Wright finished third (1.55m), Kayla Hackett fifth (1.55m), and Ashlynn Cook seventh (1.50m) for the Mountaineers.
For the men's team, Dylan LaNoue grabbed first place in the high jump with an IC4A qualifying mark of 2.05m while teammate Mikhail Brown finishing fifth (2.00m). Sean Fahey placed first in the triple jump with a leap of 14.32m with D.J. Hamilton finishing third (13.58m). Todd Charles finished second (6.97) and Lewis Kungu fourth (7.01) in the 60m dash while Kungu was sixth in the 200m dash (22.47) as well.
FLASHING BACK
Last year at the Patriot Games, highlights included Emily Wood finishing eighth in the weight throw with a 13.62m mark. Justyn Seivright placed fifth in the 400m with a time of 51.06 while Alex Devine's shot put of 14.52m gave him sixth place. Sam Shinn had a strong showing in the weight throw where he placed fifth (14.84m).
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
The Mount indoor track and field will be sending team members to three different events next weekend. Penn State National Open, Navy Invitational, and Susquehanna University Challenge are up next on the schedule for the Mountaineers.
