Philadelphia, Pa. (April 24, 2019)--Rene Rosso won the heptathlon and Christopher Gabor won the decathlon to lead the Mount to a sweep of the Multi's at the presigious Penn Relays. Rosso won with a personal best score of 4,548 points while Gabor tallied a personal-best score of 6,792 points.
After holding the lead after day one of the competition, Rosso completed her win by collecting 634 points in the long jump (5.27m, 17' 3.5"), 445 points in the javelin (28.34m, 93') and 562 points in the 800m (2:40.98). Her score of 4,548 points is the fourth on the Mount's all-time list in the heptathlon.
Gabor's win carries on the Mount's storied tradition in the Penn Relays decathlon as he is the 11th Mountaineer to win the event, the most by any single school in the event's history. The last Mountaineer to win the Penn Relays decathlon was Tom FitzSimons in 2010. Gabor finished in second place last year.
Gabor, who entered day two in second place, opened with a time of 15.82 in the 110m hurdles for 753 points. He then added 503 points with a toss of 31.96m (104' 10") in the discus, and 731 points by clearing 4.40m (14' 5.25") in the pole vault. Gabor closed out the day by scoring 622 points in the javelin (52.25m, 171' 5") and 538 points in the 1500m (5:03.76).
