Mount Track Has Successful Second Day at IC4A/ECAC Championships

March 2, 2019--The Mount St. Mary's men's and women's indoor track and field teams had a successful day on the second day of competition at the IC4A/ECAC Championships held at Boston University.

The Mount's men's distance medley relay team of Isaac Kole, Branden Roach, Brandon Briscoe and Benjamin Finnigan earned a spot in the finals after a time of 9:56.32.  Also advancing to finals on Sunday were Kayla Barnes in the 200m and Najae Nickerson in the 60m hurdles.  Barnes finished seventh in the 200 qualifying with a time of 24.46 seconds while Nickerson was the ninth-fastest in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.78 seconds to move on to the finals.

Rachel Finn tied for ninth in the pole vault with a mark of 3.70m (12' 1.5") while Elizabeth Shodiya was 20th in the long jump (5.43m, 17' 9.75").  Dominque Jeffery finished 16th in the qualifying for the 200m with a time of 24.94 seconds.

On Friday, freshman Rene Rosso finished in eighth place in the pentathlon to earn All-East honors. Rosso's score of 3,217 points is the fourth-best mark in Mount history.  She opened the competition with 879 points in the 60m hurdles after her time of 9.15 seconds.  She had a high jump of 1.63m (5' 4.25") for 771 points and followed with a shot put of 8.32m (27' 3.75") for 420 points.  Rosso scored 617 points in the long jump (5.21m, 17' 1.25") before closing out the day with a time of 2:43.79 in the 800m for 530 points.

The men's and women's distance medley relay teams, Barnes, Nickerson and Colin Waitzman in the pole vault will be in action for the Mountaineers.
