December 7, 2019--The Mount St. Mary's men's and women's indoor track and field teams opened the 2019-20 season with quality performances at both the Bucknell Bison Opener and the Susquehanna River Hawks Opener. The Mount throwers had three first place finishes at Susquehanna while the Mount had three first-place finishes at Bucknell as well.
At Susquehanna, Matthew Selba took home first place in the weight throw with a toss of 16.10m (52' 10"), which moves him into fourth on the Mount's all-time list. Teammate Sam Shinn finished third in the weight throw with a mark of 15.30m (50' 2.5"). On the women's side in the weight throw, Jesslyn Manni captured first place with a throw of 14.37m (47' 1.75"). Kayla Rademacher was third (13.97m, 45' 10"), Emily Wood fourth (13.78m, 45' 2.5") and Emily Eckard fifth (13.75m, 42' 0.75") as the Mount had four of the top five finishers in the event. Alex Devine won the shot put with a mrk of 14.49m (47' 6.5") with Selba finishing second (14.10m, 46' 3.25") and Shinn third (13.57m, 45' 6.25"). Morgan Young placed third (10.77m, 35' 4") and Manni fifth (10.43m, 34' 2.75") in the women's shot put.
At the Bucknell Bison Opener, Isaac Kole, Dylan LaNoue,a Jonah Smith and Emily Lewis all took home first-place finishes. Kole was the top finisher in the 3,000m run with a time of 8:29.85 while Grant West was third (8:51.65). LaNoue won the triple jump with a leap of 14.42m (47' 3.75") while Smith won the 5,000m run (16:05.76) with teammates Paul Fagnano finishing third and Andrew Jackson fourth. Lewis won the women's 400m with a time of 58.10 seconds.
Spencer Brown was third in the long jump (6.82m, 22' 4.5") with Mikhail Brown second in the high jump (1.96m, 6' 5"). Carter Nave was third in the pole vault (4.65m, 15' 3") with Todd Charles finishing fourth in the 60m dash (6.93). Khalil Reid added a fifth place mark in the 800m while the 4x400m relay team of Brandon Briscoe, Lewis Kungu, Branden Roach and Charles was fourth. For the women, Rene Rosso was third in the pentathlon (3,138 points) on Friday night while Alexandra Lawson finished second in the 60m hurdles (9.01), just ahead of teammates Karington Smith (9.03) and Lewis (9.04). Alexandra Kay added a fifth-place mark in the 3,000m run.
