Mount St. Mary's Cross Country to Compete at 46th Annual Paul Short Run on Saturday

The Mount St. Mary's men's and women's cross country teams will compete at the 46th annual Paul Short Run, presented by ASICS, on Saturday, October 5, at the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course at Lehigh University.  The Paul Short run features 6,000 athletes from nearly 450 colleges and high schools.  The day-long event includes 14 races.  The Mountaineers men and women are competing in the college Brown races.

MOUNT UPDATE: Maddie Kole and Erin Jaskot posted top five finishes to lead the Mount St. Mary's women's cross country team to a second-place finish at the Elizabethtown Short Course Invitational held at Union Canal Tunnel Park on September 19.  On the men's side, Grant West finished in ninth place to help the men's team finish fourth.  Full recap HERE.

LAST YEAR AT THE PAUL SHORT RUN: Maddie Kole finished in 16th place while Will Merritt was 18th overall to pace the Mount St. Mary's cross country teams in the Brown Race at the Paul Short Run last year.  The Mount finished ninth in the men's Brown Race while the women were 12th in the Women's Brown Race.  For a full recap, click HERE.

MOUNT MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY TEAM RANKED 14th in REGION:  The Mount St. Mary's men's cross country team is ranked 14th in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Mid-Atlantic Region rankings.  The Mount has been ranked every week this season while this year's appearance in the polls is the first for the Mountaineers since being ranked four weeks during the 2011 season.  Princeton tops the Mid-Atlantic region rankings followed by Villanova, Georgetown, Temple, Navy, Penn, Penn State, La Salle, Pittsburgh, Saint Joseph's, Bucknell, George Washington, Monmouth, the Mount and Lehigh. 

NEC WEEKLY AWARD WINNERS:  Maddie Kole was selected as the NEC's Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week, Grant West was the NEC Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week, and Theresa Long was the NEC Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week on September 25.  Click HERE for the full release.  Earlier this year, Nick Fransham and Kole were each named Northeast Conference Athlete for their performance at the season-opening 5K Duals.  Click HERE for the release.
