Lebanon, Pa. (September 19, 2019)--Maddie Kole and Erin Jaskot posted top five finishes to lead the Mount St. Mary's women's cross country team to a second-place finish at the Elizabethtown Short Course Invitational held at Union Canal Tunnel Park on Friday. On the men's side, Grant West finished in ninth place to help the men's team finish fourth.
Kole finished third in the field of 121 runnners with a time of 17:43.04 to lead the Mountaineers at the meet. Jaskot was right behind, finishing in fourth place with a time of 17:50.56 for the five-kilometer course. Theresa Long (20th, 18:47.55), Alexandra Kay (21st, 18:50.27) and Emily McArthur (27th, 19:12.37) rounded out the Mount's top five runners at the meet. Adria Pirozzi (28th, 19:13.11) and Destiny Boone (31st, 19:18.70) had good performances for the Mount as well.
Dickinson finished in first place with 44 points, followed by the Mount (74), Elizabethtown (75), Moravian (91), Stevenson (104), Scranton (104), York (230), King's (265), Wilkes (277) and Alvernia (290).
West led the Mountaineers on the men's side by finishing in ninth place with a time of 19:16.48 for the six-kilometer course. Johnathon Johnson finished 13th overall in a time of 19:21.61 with Paul Fagnano placing 19th at 19:30.37. Andrew Jackson (29th, 19:47.50) and Jonah Smith (30th, 19:53.26) rounded out the Mount's top five.
Dickinson won the men's meet as well with 35 points, followed by Moravian (66), Elizabethtown (72), the Mount (96), Stevenson (99), Scranton (146), York (203), Wilkes (263) and Alvernia (281).
