Philadelphia, Pa. (April 24, 2018)—D.J. Workcuff is in second place while teammate Christopher Gabor is fourth after the first day of the decathlon at the prestigious Penn Relays.

Workcuff finished day one with 3,673 points.  He led the competition after posting the top scores in each of the first two events.  Workcuff ran a 10.93 in the 100m dash for 876 points and followed with a long jump of 7.14m (23' 5.25") for 847 points.  Workcuff finished his day with 522 points in the shot put (10.61m, 34' 9.75"), 610 points in the high jump (1.78m, 5' 10") and the top time in the 400m dash (49.43) for 818 points.

Gabor is in fourth place after tallying 3,399 points.  He had a time of 11.14 in the 100m dash (830 points), a mark of 6.16m (20' 2.5") in the long jump (621 points), a shot put of 12.66m (41' 6.5") for 647 points, a high jump of 1.75m (5' 8.75") for 585 points and a time of 52.19 in the 400m dash (716 points).

Ken Mullings of the University of the Bahamas leads the event with 3,839 points, followed by Workcuff 3,673 points, Alex Sislo of Penn (3,462 points) and Gabor (3,339 points).

The decathlon concludes with the final five events tomorrow.
