Mount St. Mary's Women's Soccer Falls to Navy on Senior Day

Box Score

Emmitsburg, Md. (Sept. 18, 2016) – The Mount St. Mary's University women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Navy in non-conference action on Senior Day Sunday at Waldron Family Stadium.

Mount St. Mary's honored Maddy Bunnell and Geanna Donnelly with a pregame ceremony as part of Senior Day, honoring their contributions to the program and university throughout their time at the Mount.

Navy opened the scoring just before the halftime break on Anabell Motley's second goal of the season. Clare MacAdam found Motley open in the box, and Motley slotted a low shot to give the Mids a 1-0 advantage.

In the 79th minute of play, Natalie Dzhandzhapanyan found the back of the net to give Navy some insurance. Motley headed a loose ball in the box to Dzhandzhapanyan, who poked it past Bunnell for her first goal of the year.

Dayton Wetherby made one save in the shutout to pick up her fourth win of 2016. Bunnell stopped seven shots in the losing effort for the Mount as she registered third straight game with seven or more saves.

The Mount is back in action on September 26 at 7 p.m. at Delaware State.
