SENIOR DAY
On Sunday against Navy, Mount St. Mary's University will celebrate Senior Day with a pregame ceremony honoring Maddy Bunnell and Geanna Donnelly for their contributions to the program and the university throughout their time with the Mount.
ABOUT THE MOUNT
The Mountaineers sit at 2-3-1 on the year with victories over American (2-1 OT) and VMI (2-1), and a draw against Howard (1-1). Last time out, Jaylyn Chandler and Jenn West led the Mount to the victory at VMI with a goal apiece. Chandler evened the game at 1-1 in the 53rd minute, and West found the back of the net just over two minutes later on a perfectly placed free kick from 30 yards out to give the Mountaineers a 2-1 advantage, which they were able to hold onto. Maddy Bunnnell made a season-high eight saves in net to register her second win of the season.
West (2g) and Chandler (1g, 1a) are the team's top-two scorers on the year, combining for seven points through the opening six games, while Chloe Cain, Noelle DeFede and Bianca Gillman have tallied two points apiece. Bunnell has started all six games in net, registering a 2.24 goals against average and .674 save percentage.
NEC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Jaylyn Chandler was named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday, becoming the second Mountaineer to earn a conference award in the last three weeks as she joined Maddy Bunnell, who was named the NEC Defensive Player of the Week in late August. Chandler helped lead the Mount to the win over VMI with the game-tying goal, which was the first of her career.
