Eugene, Ore. (June 9, 2016)—Mount St. Mary's junior Kelly Yanucil (Bordentown, N.J.) earned Second Team All-America honors in the javelin on Thursday night at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Hayward Field.  Yanucil advanced to the finals, and finished in ninth place in the field of 24 competitors.

Yanucil broke her own school record with a toss of 51.07m (167' 6") with her third throw of the day to earn her spot in the finals.  She opened with marks of 47.21m (154' 10") and 48.43m (158' 10").  The top nine competitors in the first two flights advanced to the finals, earning three more throws each.  Yanucil's previous best was 50.53m (166' 9.75") set at the 2015 Northeast Conference Championships.

In the finals, Yanucil had throws of 48.71m (159' 9"), 50.51m (165' 8") and 45.46m (149' 2").  She is the first Mountaineer woman since the Mount moved to NCAA Division I in 1989 to earn All-America honors at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships.  The last female track All-American at the Mount was Michelle Dixon, who was an All-American in the 400m hurdles at the 1987 NCAA Division II National Championships.  The last Mountaineer All-American in track was Tom FitzSimons, who was Second Team All-America in the decathlon in 2012.
