Fairfax, Va. (April 9, 2016)--The Mount St. Mary's men's and women's outdoor track and field teams had four winners on a cold and windy day at the George Mason Spring Invitational on Saturday.
Kelly Yanucil won the women's javelin while reigning NEC Rookie of the Week Brian Sagendorf took home first place in the men's javelin. Natalia Hinton won the long jump with Julian Woods winning the 400m hurdles with a season-best time and an IC4A qualifying mark.
Yanucil had a season-best winning throw of 50.47m (165' 7") to top the field in the women's javelin. Sagendorf had a winning mark of 56.62m in the men's javelin while Hinton's winning leap in the long jump was 5.69m (18' 8").
Woods won the 400m hurdles with a season best and IC4A qualifying time of 53.16 seconds. He also finished second in the 110m hurdles with a season best mark of 14.51 seconds.
Helena Leyrer finished in second place in the 100m hurdles (14.352) with Kirsten O'Malley finishing third in the triple jump (11.09m). Jessica Whitmore was fourth in the 100m dash (12.37 seconds) while Moriah Fitzgerald placed sixth in the pole vault.
For men, Chase Boyle and Brenden Chavis had strong showings in the hammer throw with each posting an IC4A qualifying mark. Boyle finished third with a throw of 52.80m, narrowly edging Chavis, who was fourth with a personal-best mark of 52.79m. Christopher Gabor was third in the long jump (6.28m) while D.J. Workcuff was third in the high jump (1.92m). Zachary Delker finished fourth in the discus as well.
