Chris DiPretoro Scores Six Goals, but Mount St. Mary's Men's Lacrosse Falls at Bucknell

Lewisburg, Pa. (April 8, 2016)—Freshman Chris DiPretoro notched a career-high six goals, but the Mount St. Mary's men's lacrosse team saw Bucknell rally for a 15-10 win on Friday night.

The Mountaineers held a 10-8 win midway through the third quarter, but Bucknell scored the final seven goals of the game to rally for the win.

The Mount scored consecutive goals to take a 10-8 lead with 6:17 left in the third quarter.  Bubba Johnson broke an 8-8 tie with his 11th goal of the season, and DiPretoro notched his sixth goal of the game just 13 seconds later to give the Mount a two-goal lead.

Bucknell (7-4) answered by scoring the final three goals of the third quarter, and added three more in the fourth to take a 14-10 advantage.  Kyle Shanahan's goal with 1:27 left in the third gave the Bison an 11-10 lead.  Then, Bucknell's Thomas Flibotte took over, scoring the next three goals of the game to push the advantage to 14-10 before Will Sands closed out the scoring with 1:15 left.

DiPretoro finished the game with a season-best seven points on six goals and an assist.  Johnson and Jack Mangan each had a goal and an assist in the game as well.  Sands led Bucknell with four goals and two assists while Flibotte chipped in four goals and a helper.

DiPretoro gave the Mount a 1-0 lead with his first goal of the game just under five minutes into the first quarter.  The Bison responded to the opening goal by rattling off four consecutive scores to take a 4-1 advantage.  The Mountaineers called timeout, and then responded in turn, notching three goals in a row to tie the score.   DiPretoro was the key to the run, scoring a pair of goals while assisting on the third.  Shanahan broke the tie, giving Bucknell a 5-4 lead heading into the second quarter.

A Mount turnover four minutes into the second quarter led to a Sands goal that pushed the lead to 6-4.  The Mount answered with a four-goal run to take an 8-6 lead at the half.  Austin Short started the run with his first collegiate goal on a feed from Mark Hojnoski.  The Mount then scored three times in a span of 1:12 late in the half to take an 8-6 advantage.  DiPretoro converted a pass from Gosnell to equal the score with 2:46 left in the half.  Mangan scored just 12 seconds later to give the Mount the lead, and DiPretoro's fifth goal of the half pushed the advantage to two.

The Mount is back in action on Tuesday, April 12, when UMBC visits Waldron Family Stadium on campus for a 7:00 p.m. matchup.
