Mount St. Mary's Women's Indoor Track Finishes Fourth at NEC Championships; Men's Team Places Sixth

COMPLETE RESULTS

Staten Island, N.Y. (February 20, 2016)—The Mount St. Mary's women's indoor track and field team finished in fourth place while the men's team finished in sixth place at the 2016 Northeast Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships.  Julian Woods took home first place for the Mount men in the 60m hurdles while the women's 4x400m relay team earned first place to pace the teams on Saturday.

Sacred Heart won the meet, collecting 150 points, followed by LIU Brooklyn (143), Central Connecticut (72), the Mount (68.5), Robert Morris (55.5), Fairleigh Dickinson (54), Saint Francis U (45), Wagner (34), Bryant (33) and St. Francis Brooklyn (7).

On the men's side, LIU Brooklyn finished in first with 158 points, followed by Central Connecticut (115), Sacred Heart (96), Saint Francis U (88.5), Fairleigh Dickinson (81.5), the Mount (64.5), Wagner (39.5), Bryant (25) and St. Francis Brooklyn (5).

The women's 4x400m relay team of Isabel Ross, Helena Leyrer, Kirsten O'Malley and Genamarie McCant took home first place with a time of 3:52.99.

Leyrer finished in second place in the 60m hurdles (8.73) while also adding an eighth place mark in the 400m dash while Corie Scharpf was second in the high jump (1.64m).  Jessica Whitmore finished third in the 60m dash (7.73), McCant third in the 400m (56.32), Clarke Hooper seventh in 800m, Virginia Owusu-Mainoo eighth in the weight throw and O'Malley seventh in the triple jump.

For the men, Woods won the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.09 seconds while also finishing fourth in the 400m dash.  Josh Poole finished fifth in the 500m with teammate Jas Chung-Campbell placing seventh in the event.  Chase Boyle finished seventh in the shot put, Zachary Delker eighth in the shot put, Chris Eltringham placed sixth in the 800m and Colin Weitzman was fifth in the pole vault.

The men's 4x400m relay team of Chung-Campbell, Woods, Christopher Gabor and Poole finished second with a time of 3:20.79.

Boyle was named the Most Outstanding Field Performer (Throws) at the meet.  Boyle won the weight throw on Friday before finishing seventh in the shot put on Saturday.
