Box Score Emmitsburg, Md. (Oct 4, 2016) –Mount St. Mary's University cruised to a 7-0 victory over Hampton on Tuesday at Waldron Family Stadium behind goals from six different players. The seven goals in the contest were the most for the Mount since a 10-0 win over Delaware State back in 2005.
Jaylyn Chandler tallied a game-high five points in the contest on a pair of goals and one assist, while Jenna West (1g, 2a) added four points and both Shayna Macfarlane (1g, 1a) and Dom Stauffer (1g, 1a) chipped in with three. Macfarlane, Stauffer, Sarah Harmon (1g) and Andrea Rodriguez (1g) each registered the first goals of their careers in the game.
Freshman keeper Sydni Surowiec made one stop to collect her first career win in goal in just her second appearance of the season. Her counterpart, Maya Andrews took the loss despite making 11 saves.
The Mount struck for a pair of goals in an eight-minute span midway through the first half to jump out to a 2-0 lead. West got the team on the board in the 23rd minute with her third goal of the season before Rodriguez added to the advantage with her goal in the 30th minute.
Mount St. Mary's broke the game open with five tallies in the second half, including a pair from Chandler. The rookie got the scoring started in the second period with her third goal of the season, before Macfarlane, Harmon and Stauffer each scored within a 10-minute period to widen the gap to 6-0 with just over five minutes to play.
In the 89th minute, West sent a thru ball to a streaking Chandler, who beat Andrews for her second goal of the contest as she tallied her first career multi-goal game.
The Mount outshot Hampton by a 25-3 margin in the contest and a held a 5-2 advantage on corners.
Mount St. Mary's is back in action for NEC play at Saint Francis U this Sunday (Oct. 9) at 2 p.m.
