Box Score

Emmitsburg, Md. (October 28, 2016) – Mount St. Mary's University suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Sacred Heart on Friday in Northeast Conference women's soccer action at Waldron Family Stadium.

The Pioneers got on the board in the 18th minute of play on Lindsay Corallo's second goal of the season. Emily Dawidczyk sent a pass to Corallo in the middle of the box and the sophomore beat keeper Maddy Bunnell with a shot just inside the far post to give Sacred Heart a 1-0 advantage.

Late in the first half, the Pioneers doubled their lead as Caitlyn Buckley corralled a loose ball off a cross and fired a low shot to the left for her third goal of the campaign, pushing Sacred Heart's lead to 2-0.

Sacred Heart added to its advantage in the 55th minute as Alex Mesropyan sent a thru ball to Maranda Gibbons, who found the back of the net with a low shot for her second tally of the year.

The Mount cut the deficit to 3-1 with just over 17 minutes remaining on Kristen Morawski's second career goal and first of the season. Off a corner kick, a Sacred Heart defender's heading clearance attempt found its way to Morawski, who headed it past keeper Nicole Sambuco to get the Mount on the board.

The Mountaineers had a couple promising opportunities in the final 17-plus minutes but weren't able to find the back of the net as Sacred Heart closed out the 3-1 victory.

Sambuco earned her eighth win in net with one save in the contest, while Maddy Bunnell stopped nine shots in goal for the Mount.

The Mount closes out the season against Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday, October 30 at 12 p.m. at Waldron Family Stadium in Emmitsburg.
