Box Score

Staten Island, N.Y. (October 23, 2016) – Sandra Battista's goal with just over three minutes remaining in regulation lifted Wagner to a 2-1 victory over Mount St. Mary's University in a Northeast Conference women's soccer tilt on Sunday afternoon.

Battista's shot from the left wing that found the back of the net proved to be the game-winner in the contest. The tally, which was assisted by Kaela Schrier, was Battista's first of the season and her second career game-winning goal.

Early in the first half, Maria Nunez finished off a header to give the Seahawks the 1-0 first-half advantage. Peyton Beck and Jessica Mouradian picked up assists on the play.

Wagner held the Mount scoreless until the 76th minute when Gianna Pomykacz scored her second goal in as many games to even the score at 1-1. Pomykacz received a pass from Shayna Macfarlane and beat keeper Katelyn Murphy for the late game-tying tally.

The tilt was tied at 1-1 for just 11 minutes before Battista's late game-winner.

Murphy made four stops to collect the win for Wagner, while Maddy Bunnell took the loss in goal for the Mount.

The Mountaineers return home for a matchup with Sacred Heart on Friday, October 28 at 4 p.m.
