Box Score

Brooklyn, N.Y. (October 21, 2016) – Jenn Peters' second goal of the contest late in the second overtime period lifted LIU Brooklyn to a 3-2 victory over Mount St. Mary's University in Northeast Conference action Friday night at LIU field.

Awad corralled a cross from Madison Gomez and chipped it over keeper Maddy Bunnell's head to give the Blackbirds their first NEC win of the season. The tally was Awad's second of the game and fourth of the season.

West opened the scoring in the contest midway through the first half with her team-leading fourth goal of the season. The sophomore found the back of the net from 30 yards out to give the Mountaineers the one goal advantage, which they took into the halftime break.

Just over six minutes into the second frame, Peters evened the contest at 1-1 on her second goal of the contest for the Blackbirds on a tough-angle shot.

Pomykacz responded for the Mount with her first goal of the year in the 58th minute, beating goalie Aline Allmann from deep to put the Mount back ahead, 2-1.

Awad brought LIU Brooklyn back even just five minutes later, following up her first shot which was blocked with a second chance effort that found the back of the net and tied the game at 2-2.

Neither team was able to find the go-ahead goal in regulation, taking the game to overtime tied at 2-all, before Awad's game-winner with just under five minutes remaining in the second overtime period.

Allmann collected the win in net for the Blackbirds, stopping one shot in 60 minutes of play. Maddy Bunnell suffered the loss for the Mount despite a six-save effort.

The Mount continues its road swing at Wagner on Sunday, October 23, with game time set for 2 p.m.
