Box Score New Britain, Conn. (Oct. 2, 2016) – Carla Jackson's goal with just 21 seconds remaining in regulation lifted Central Connecticut to a 1-0 victory over Mount St. Mary's University in the Northeast Conference women's soccer opener on Sunday afternoon.
Jackson received a pass from Kelly Halligan and found the back of the net from just outside the six-yard box for the game-winning goal in the final minute. The tally for Jackson was her first goal of the 2016 season.
Maddy Bunnell made seven saves in goal for the Mount, registering her fourth straight appearance with seven stops or more. Her counterpart, Nicki Turley, made three saves to collect the win for Central Connecticut.
The Blue Devils outshot the Mount by a 19-7 margin and held an 8-3 advantage in corners in the contest.
The Mountaineers are back in action for their final non-conference match of the season as they host Hampton on Tuesday, October 4 at 4 p.m.
