PATRIOT GAMES RESULTS | PENN STATE NATIONAL INVITATIONAL RESULTS
January 30, 2016--The Mount St. Mary's men's and women's indoor track and field teams completed a busy weekend at both the George Mason Patriot Games and the Penn State National Invitational.
Josh Poole won the 200m dash at George Mason to pace the Mount competitors. In addition, D.J. Workcuff was the top collegiate performer in the high jump and Helena Leyrer in the 60m hurdles.
Poole took home first place in the 200m dash with a time of 22.97 seconds. Julian Woods had a strong performance, finishing third in the 60m hurdles (8.13 seconds) and sixth in the 400m dash (50.41). Jas Chung-Campbell placed seventh in the 500m dash (1:07.28), Christopher Eltringham fourth in the 800m (1:56.92) and Keiko Martin advanced to the semifinals in the 60m dash for the Mountaineers as well.
Workcuff had a mark of 1.94m in the high jump to finish as the top collegiate athlete at the meet. Carlos Castello finished seventh in the high jump (1.79m) and eighth in the long jump (6.36m). Colin Waitzman added a sixth-place mark in the pole vault (4.15m).
On the women's side, Leyrer had the top collegiate time in the 60m hurdles at 8.93 seconds. Jessica Whitmore advanced to the semifinals in the 60m dash while Leyrer also finished fourth in the 400m dash (1:00.02). Isabel Ross finished ninth in the 400m dash while Natalia Hinton was seventh in the long jump.
At Penn State, Chase Boyle finished 12th in the weight throw (17.12m) with Brenden Chavis finishing in 22nd place (16.13m). Virginia Owusu-Mainoo finished 23rd in the weight throw for the women (13.75m). Elissa Ingram (17th) and Moriah Fitzgerald (20th) each cleared 3.40m in the pole vault while Erin Sample (23rd) had a mark of 11.63m in the shot put. In the multi's, Corie Scharpf was ninth in the heptathlon (2,699 points) and Christopher Gabor was sixth in the heptathlon (4,623 points).
