Mount Track Has Pair Earn Spots at IC4A Championships with Strong Peformances at Father Diamond Invitational

Fairfax, Va. (January 9, 2016)—Chase Boyle won the weight throw to lead the Mount St. Mary's men's and women's track and field teams as they returned to action today at the George Mason Father Diamond Invitational.

Boyle took home first place in the weight throw with an IC4A qualifying mark of 17.55m. He also finished in fourth place in the shot put with a toss of 14.02m.

Julian Woods also earned a spot at the IC4A Championships with a time of 8.23 seconds in the 60m hurdles. Chris Eltringham earned a third-place mark in the 800m at 1:58.18.

For the women, Helena Leyrer placed third in the 60m hurdles (8.90), Erin Sample was third in the shot put (12.67m) with Virginia Owusu-Mainoo placing third in the weight throw (14.79m). Genamarie McCant was a fifth-place finisher in the 200m dash (25.74) while Clarke Hooper was sixth in the 800m run (2:26.29).
