Mount Track Has Strong Showings at Penn State and George Mason

GEORGE MASON RESULTS | PENN STATE RESULTS

January 31, 2015--The Mount St. Mary's indoor track and field teams completed a busy two days with athletes competing at both the Penn State National Invitational and the George Mason Patriot Games.

At Penn State, Josh Poole and Desi Scott each finished in second place in the 500m dash.  Poole posted a time of 1:05.30 to finish second in the men's race, while Scott had a time of 1:16.37 to finish second in the women's race.  Genamarie McCant was third in the 500m Invitational with a mark of 1:16.45.

Sara Gardner set a personal best in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.11 seconds, good for fifth on the Mount's all-time list.  She also finished 10th in the high jump with a leap of 1.63m.  Chase Boyle was 18th in the weight throw with a toss of 15.70m with Jessica Whitmore finishing 17th in the 60m dash with a season-best time of 7.73 seconds.

At George Mason, Virginia Owusu-Mainoo and Ali Donahue finished first and second, respectively, in the weight throw.  In addition, freshman Carlos Castello won the heptathlon at the meet.

Castello won the heptathlon with a score of 4,241 points with Christopher Gabor finishing in fourth place with 4,054 points.

Owusu-Mainoo had a toss of 14.79m in the weight throw to earn first-place honors with Donahue finishing right behind at 14.70m.  Brenden Chavis finished second in the men's weight throw with a mark of 14.55m while teammate Eric Belt earned fourth place.
