Julian Woods Wins 110m and 400m Hurdles, Elissa Ingram and Heather Juhring Also Win Gold, to Pace Mount Track at NEC Championships

Moon Township, Pa. (May 4, 2014)--The Mount St. Mary's women's track team finished in fourth place while the men earned a sixth place finish at the 2014 Northeast Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Robert Morris University.

Freshman Julian Woods won both the 110m and the 400m hurdles to lead the men's team.  Elissa Ingram captured the pole vault with Heather Juhring taking home first-place honors in the javelin to lead the women's team.

The women's team finished fourth overall with 96 points, trailing winner LIU Brooklyn (134.50), Sacred Heart (132) and Robert Morris (131.50).  The men's team finished sixth with 78 points, trailing winner Central Connecticut State (145), LIU Brooklyn (117), Robert Morris (108), Sacred Heart (102) and Wagner (80).

Woods was a double-winner on Sunday with his titles in the 110m hurdles and the 400m hurdles.  He captured the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.44 seconds while his mark of 52.53 seconds was good for first place in the 400m hurdles.  The freshman won the indoor 60m hurdles, meaning he won all three hurdles races at NEC Championships this season.

Coby Rosemier-Gussio performed well in the sprints, finishing second in both the 100m dash and the 200m dash.  He had a time of 10.56 seconds to earn his second-place nod in the 100m.  In the 200m, Rosemier-Gussio had a mark of 21.31 seconds, good for second place at the meet, and second on the Mount's all-time list.

Freshman Josh Poole was second in the 400m dash with a mark of 47.68 seconds.  In the 800m run, Kody Wilson was fourth with a time of 1:54.11 while teammate Chris Eltringham finished fifth at 1:54.84. 

The men's 4x400m relay team of Poole, Woods, Jaime Gibilisco and Rosemier-Gussio was second with a time of 3:14.68.

Gibilisco finished fifth in the 400m hurdles (55.02) with Joe Barbato scoring the javelin with an eight-place throw of 51.54m.

For the women, Ingram won the pole vault for the second consecutive year with a vault of 3.75m (12' 3.5").  Juhring had a throw of 45.56m to capture first place in the javelin with freshman Kelly Yanucil finishing third with a toss of 41.76m.

In the 400m dash, Genamarie McCant placed second (56.01) with teammate Desi Scott finishing fifth (57.30).

Twin sisters Maria and Stephanie Borland each finished in second place on Sunday.  Maria was second in the 800m with a time of 2:13.88 while Stephanie was second in the 1,500m with a mak of 4:37.49.  Stephanie also placed seventh in the 5,000m run (18:19.21).

Kristen Galligan earned a fifth-place mark in the 5,000m (17:59.68) with Megan Schott finishing eighth (18:21.75), giving the Mount three in the top eight in the event.

Helena Leyrer was sixth in the 100m hurdles (14.62) and fourth in the 400m hurdles (1:04.53).  Ali Donahue was sixth in the discus (38.99m) as well.
