Box Score Emmitsburg, Md. (April 14, 2014)--Mount St. Mary's fell to No. 6 Johns Hopkins, 17-2, on Monday afternoon at Waldron Family Stadium. Senior goalkeeper Chris Klaiber made 19 saves for the Mountaineers.
Johns Hopkins (8-3) built a 12-0 advantage before the Mountaineers were able to breakthrough on the scoreboard with the clock winding down in the third quarter. Leading scorer Bubba Johnson was able to bury a shot on a pass from Kyle McDonough with four seconds left in the third to put the Mount on the scoreboard.
Clayton Wainer notched his 11th goal of the year for the Mount to open the scoring in the final quarter, but Johns Hopkins scored the final five goals of the contest to earn the 17-2 victory.
Johns Hopkins outshot the Mount, 57-14, in the game while holding a 47-19 advantage in the ground ball department.
Klaiber's 19-save effort was his sixth game with double digits in saves this year. He had 20 saves against Georgetown and 18 against Towson earlier this season.
Wells Stanwick led Johns Hopkins with six assists while Brandon Benn and Jack Grass each had three goals in the game.
Mount St. Mary's is back in action on Saturday, April 19, when Wagner visits Waldron Family Stadium for a 12:00 p.m. matchup. It is the Mount's final home game of the season, and the team will honor its senior class prior to the game.
