Winston Salem, N.C. (March 22, 2014)—Heather Juhring's school record in the javelin highlighted the second day of competition for the Mount St. Mary's men's and women's track teams at the Wake Forest Open.
Juhring launched a throw of 48.45m (158' 11") to finish in second place in the javelin at the meet. Her mark broke her own school record of 44.55m (146' 2") by more than 12 feet. Freshman Kelly Yanucil also had a strong showing, finishing seventh in the javelin with a throw of 42.98m (141'), the second-best mark in Mount history.
Helena Leyrer had the fifth-fastest time in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:02.51. Maria Borland's mark of 10:24.11 in the 3,000m run was sixth at the meet, and is eighth all-time at the Mount. Stephanie Borland's time of 2:15.90 in the 800m run is good for eighth all-time at the Mount as well.
In the pole vault, Elissa Ingram finished in sixth place, clearing 3.70m (12' 1.5") to earn a spot at the ECAC Championships.
Mount St. Mary's is back in action on Saturday, March 29, at the Maryland Terrapin Invitational.
