MOUNT UPDATE: The Mount women's tennis team returns to action after a busy weekend with a dual match versus Towson on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 3 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT: The squad made its home debut with the Mount St. Mary's Invitational on Oct. 4-5. Five different Mount players won singles matches in the two-day tournament including Kelly Smith in Flight A and Danielle Nguyen and Cassandra Powell in Flight B. Jennifer Smith and Isabella Draper added Flight C and D wins, respectively.
In the doubles competition, Nguyen paired with Erin Benefiel for a pair of wins in the Flight B singles bracket to qualify for the championship match.
ABOUT TOWSON: The Tigers will be playing their first dual match of the season on Wednesday after early-season tournaments at home and on the road at Navy. In September, Lucy Williams was Towson's most consistent singles player with a 4-1 record. The Tigers posted an 11-10 dual match record a season ago.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. TOWSON: Since the Mount moved to Division I before the start of the 1988-89 season, the two sides have played 23 times with the Mount holding a 9-14 record. The Tigers have won the last four matchups with the Mount's last victory in the series coming in 2009.
LEADING THE MOUNT: Freshman Cassandra Powell has compiled a team-best four singles victories through the first month of the season. In doubles, Powell and freshman Sruthi Kamprath have paired up for four singles wins to tie for the team lead with pairings of Jennifer Smith and Kelly Smith, and Erin Benefiel and Danielle Nguyen.
