Elissa Ingram and Jessica Whitmore Qualify for ECAC Championships to Pace Mount Women's Track at Navy Winter Invitational

Annapolis, Md. (January 9, 2014)—Sophomores Jessica Whitmore and Elissa Ingram each qualified for the ECAC Championships to lead the Mount St. Mary's women's indoor track and field team at the Navy Winter Invitational on Thursday night.

Whitmore won the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.65 seconds, which qualifies her for the ECAC Championships.  The sophomore added a win in the 200-meter dash as well with a mark of 26.01 seconds.

Ingram took home first place in the pole vault with a mark of 3.60m to earn a spot at the ECAC Championships as well.

The distance medley relay team of Stephanie Borland, Genamarie McCant, Maria Borland and Kristen Galligan earned second place with freshman Natalia Hinton placing second in the long jump (5.25m).  Helena Leyrer finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.06), Corie Scharpf was fourth in the high jump and Francine Pinnock fourth in the weight throw. 

The Mount returns to action on Saturday at the Bucknell Mini Meet.
