The Mount (2-4) held possession for the first four minutes of the game, and finally broke through on Schmidt's extra-man goal to take a 1-0 lead.  With the goal, Schmidt has scored a goal in 34 consecutive games, the longest streak in the nation.

Johns Hopkins won the ensuing face-off, and Mike Poppleton scored just five seconds later to even the score.  The Mountaineers regained the lead when Anthony Golden notched his first goal of the year on a feed from Scalley.  Johns Hopkins, however, countered with the next three goals, the final two from Brandon Benn for a 4-2 advantage at the end of the first quarter.

Johns Hopkins scored 19 seconds into the second quarter to take a 5-2 lead, and the score remained that way for the next 11 minutes before Schmidt tallied his second goal of the game to cut the deficit to 5-3.  Benn countered with an extra-man goal with 29.0 seconds left in the quarter to make it 6-3 at the half.

Johns Hopkins took control of the game by outscoring the Mountaineers 7-to-2 in the third quarter.  Rex Sanders opened the scoring in the third quarter for the Blue Jays (4-1), but Scalley countered with his first goal of the game 44 seconds later to make it 7-4.  It is the 15th consecutive game that Scalley has scored a goal for the Mountaineers.  Johns Hopkins, however, answered with a four-goal streak to take an 11-4 lead midway with 6:09 left in the third quarter.

Golden snapped the scoring run with his second goal of the game, burying the shot after a pass across the crease from Bryant Schmidt.  The Blue Jays, however, scored the final two goals of the quarter to take a commanding 13-to-5 lead.

The final quarter featured 10 goals with Johns Hopkins outscoring the Mountaineers, 6-4, to round out the victory.  Cody Lehrer, Scalley, Schmidt and Daniel Stranix all scored for the Mount in the final period.

The Mount returns to action on Saturday, March 9, with a home game against Manhattan.  Face-off is set for 1:00 p.m. at Waldron Family Stadium on campus.
