FitzSimons Wins Mount Multis

COMPLETE RESULTS

Emmitsburg, Md. (April 20, 2012)--Senior Tom FitzSimons won the decathlon at the Mount Multi's on Friday afternoon.  FitzSimons won the event with a score of 7,440 points, improving his score by 50 points from earlier this season.

Tim Nickas was second with a score of 6,517 points, followed by Jake Nichols of McDaniel (5,636 points).

FitzSimons opened day two with a time of 15.44 seconds in the 110m hurdles for 797 points.  He had a toss of 34.94m in the discus (562 points) and a pole vault of 4.55m (775 points).  He then had a throw of 53.51m in the javelin (641) and then had a time of 4:16.27 (837 points) to round out his day.

FitzSimons entered the decathlon with the 11th-best score in the nation this year when he had a score of 7,390 points at the Texas Relays earlier this season.  The top 24 scores in the country qualify for the NCAA Tournament.

Nickas was second after posting a time of 16.87 in the 110 hurdles (628 points), and having a throw of 36.18m in the discus (587).  He had a pole vault of 4.25m (688), a javelin throw of 47.73m (555) and a time of 4:33.73 in the 1500m run (720 points.)
