Landover, Md. (February 12, 2012)—Gigi Gibilisco won the 800m dash while the Mount's 4x400m relay team also took home first place to lead the men's indoor track and field team to a fifth-place finish at the 2012 Northeast Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships. The women's team finished in 10th place.
Freshman Coby Rosemier-Gussio had a strong meet to earn the NEC's Most Outstanding Rookie Performer award. Rosemier-Gussio finished second in the 200m dash (22.14), fifth in the 60m dash (7.07), fourth in the long jump, and was part of the Mount's winning 4x400m relay team.
Gibilisco won the 800m in a time of 1:52.26, finishing .30 seconds ahead of Sacred Heart's Patrick Peterson. The 4x400m relay squad of Rosemier-Gussio, Jamie Gibilisco, Tom FitzSimons and Gigi Gibilsco took home first place with a time of 3:19.22.
Scott Rice chipped in a fifth-place mark in the pole vault (4.35m, 14' 3.25") with FitzSimons placing seventh in the event (4.20m, 13' 9.25"). Dylan Bernard added an eighth-place finish in the 5000m run at 15:09.84.
For the women, Morgan Ostasewski finished in sixth place in the weight throw with a toss of 16.15m, an ECAC qualifying mark. Desi Scott placed seventh in the 800m at 2:19.88 with Bridget Meloro finishing eighth in the high jump. Teika Robinson added a seventh place finish in the triple jump (11.15m, 36' 7").
Yesterday, freshman Rosemier-Gussio finished in fourth place in the long jump with a leap of 6.90m (22' 7.5"). Billy Lawrence scored in the high jump with a sixth-place finish (1.91m, 6' 3.25") with Jon Fernandez finishing eighth in the weight throw (15.65m, 51' 4.25").
The women were led by Jess Huber's third-place finish in the pole vault. Chantel Lipkins was sixth in the long jump (5.49m, 18' 0.25") with Robinson placing eighth in the event (5.42m, 17' 9.5"). Heather Gula added an eighth-place mark in the pole vault.
