Morgan Ostasewski posted an ECAC qualifying mark in the weight throw to pace the Mount St. Mary's indoor track and field teams at the Penn State National Invitational on Friday night.
Ostasewski had a toss of 16.17m (53' 0.75") to finish in ninth place in the strong field at the meet. The throw was an ECAC qualifying mark for Ostasewski.
Senior Tom FitzSimons tallied 2,649 points to place sixth after the first day of the heptathlon for the Mount. FitzSimons opened the day with the 6th best mark in the 60m dash at 7.29 seconds, good for 782 points. He had the seventh-best mark in the long jump (6.23m, 637 points) and added the fourth-best mark in the field in the shot put (11.38m, 569 points). He finished the day with a high jump of 1.84m for 661 points.
Senior Dylan Bernard finished in seventh place in the 5,000m run with a time of 15:09.52. Quinton Huguley added a 19th-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 6.56m for the Mountaineers.
The meet concludes tomorrow.
