West Long Branch, N.J (May 7, 2011)-Ashley
DeCruise won both the 100m and 200m dash to earn Most
Outstanding Track Performer honors at the Northeast Conference
Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Sunday
afternoon. The Mount women's team finished in fourth
place while the men's team earned a seventh-place finish.
DeCruise tied the NEC record by winning the 200m dash in a time
of 24.21 seconds while winning the 100m in a mark of 11.90
seconds. Sister Ashlyn
DeCruise finished fifth in the 200m (24.62) and fourth in the
100m (12.34).
The DeCruise sisters were also able to help the Mount's 4x400m
relay team crush the NEC record with a winning time of 3:42.28,
besting the old mark by nearly four seconds. The squad
consisted of Ashlyn
DeCruise, Lily
Otu, Desi
Scott and Ashley
DeCruise.
The women's 4x100m relay (Chantel
Lipkins, Ashlyn
DeCruise, Otu and Ashley
DeCruise) finished in second place with a time of 47.53
seconds.
Madeleine
Midles finished in third place in the hammer throw with an ECAC
qualifying mark of 51.30m (168' 4") while Megan
Kinsella was sixth in the 1500m run. Scott (55.89) and
Otu (56.64) were fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 400m
finals.
Yesterday, Jessica Huber finished in fourth and Heather
Gula in seventh to score points in the pole vault for the
Mountaineers. Teika
Robinson was fourth in the long jump (5.53m) with Morgan
Ostasewski finishing third in the discus (40.24m). Hanna
Dubois was seventh in the javelin as well for the Mountaineers.
On the men's side, Gigi
Gibilisco won the 800m run with a mark of 1:51.86 to pace the
Mountaineers. Dylan
Bernard finished in second place in the 5000m run in a time of
14:51.81 while Tom
FitzSimons was fifth in the 110m hurdles.
Steven
Ha earned a third-place finish in the triple jump (14.14m) with
the 4x100m relay team of Jason
Kymingham, Tyler
Swope, Chris
Brewington and FitzSimons placing fourth with an IC4A
qualifying mark of 42.53 seconds.
The 4x400m relay team of Kymingham, Gibilisco, Brewington and
FitzSimons was third with an IC4A qualifying mark of 3:15.61.
Swope was seventh in the 100m dash with Scott
Rice and Tim
Nickas tying for seventh in the pole vault.
Yesterday for the men, Bernard placed fourth in the 10,000m run
at 31:52.71 with Billy
Lawrence was seventh in the high jump (1.92m). Quinton
Huguley was seventh in the long jump (6.93m) while Alan
Coulson was fifth in the discus (43.90m). FitzSimons
placed fourth and Charles Haberkorn eighth in the javelin
throw.
