West Long Branch, N.J (May 7, 2011)-The Mount
St. Mary's women's track and field team is tied for fourth while
the men's team is in sixth place after the first day of the
Northeast Conference Track and Field Championships hosted by
Monmouth University.
Jessica Huber finished in fourth and Heather
Gula in seventh to score points in the pole vault for the
Mountaineers. Teika
Robinson was fourth in the long jump (5.53m) with Morgan
Ostasewski finishing third in the discus (40.24m). Hanna
Dubois was seventh in the javelin as well for the Mountaineers.
Twin sisters Ashlyn and Ashley
DeCruise qualified for the finals in both the 100m and 200m
dash. Ashlyn had times of 11.99 seconds in the 100m and 24.25
seconds in the 200m. Ashlyn had marks of 12.31 seconds in the
100m and 24.77 in the 200m.
Lily
Otu (56.13) and Desi
Scott (56.59) earned spots in the finals in the 400m
dash. Megan
Kinsella earned a spot in the finals in the 1500m with a time
of 4:49.02.
For the men, Dylan
Bernard placed fourth in the 10,000m run at 31:52.71 with Billy
Lawrence was seventh in the high jump (1.92m). Quinton
Huguley was seventh in the long jump (6.93m) while Alan
Coulson was fifth in the discus (43.90m).
Tom
FitzSimons placed fourth and Charles Haberkorn eighth in the
javelin throw.
Tyler
Swope earned a spot in the finals in the 100m dash with his
time of 11.26 seconds while Gigi
Gibilisco qualified for the finals in the 800m with his mark of
1:55.85. FitzSimons also qualified for the finals in the 110m
hurdles (15.22).
