College Park, Md. (March 27,
2010)--Quinton Huguley won the long jump and Rick
Villanova took first place in the pole vault to lead the Mount St.
Mary's men's track and field team to a fifth-place finish at the
Maryland Invitational. On the women's side, Aslyn DeCruise won the
100m dash to help the women's team finish in seventh place.
Huguley won the long jump with a leap of
6.95m (22' 9.75") to capture first place. The sophomore also
finished fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 13.84m (45'
5").
Villanova and Tom FitzSimons finished in
first and second place, respectively, in the pole vault for the
Mountaineers. Villanova's winning height was 4.57m (15') while
FitzSimons cleared 4.42m (14' 6").
Other top performances for the men
included Chad Brown finishing fourth in the 200m dash (22.55) and
eighth in the 100m dash (11.21) and Hayden Duffy placing sixth in
the 400m with a time of 49.81.
Bucknell won the men's meet with the
Mount finishing fifth in the field of 14 teams.
On the women's side, Ashlyn DeCruise won
the 100m dash with a time of 12.19. Ashley DeCruise was second in
the 200m dash with a time of 25.14 while the Mount's 4x400m relay
team of Ashlyn and Ashley DeCruise, Katie Crumbaugh and Sherlene
Lequay finished third.
Lily Otu was fifth in the long jump
(5.54m, 18' 2.25") and Teika Robinson was second in the triple jump
(11.40m, 37' 5"). Madeline Midles was third in the hammer throw
(49.02m, 160' 10") for the Mountaineers.
