Park, Md. (March 28, 2009)--Chad
Brown won both the 100m and 200m dash to lead the Mount St. Mary's
men's and women's track and field teams at the Maryland
Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Brown helped the men finish in third
place at the meet while the women's team placed fourth.
Brown
took the 100m dash with a time of 10.77 while he captured the 200
with a mark of 21.71. Brown, who
qualified for the IC4A Championships in the 100m dash last week,
earned a spot in the IC4A's with his 200m time.
Also
for the men, Matt Logie placed sixth in the 1500m run, Joe Orsulak
fifth in the 800m run (1:57.24), John Fernandez fifth in the shot
put and Gigi Gibilisco fifth in the 400m hurdles
(55.85).
The
Mount women's team was paced by the 4x100m relay team that finished
first with a time of 47.49.
The quartet included Sara Brown, Ashlyn DeCruise, Sheena Simpkins
and Ashley DeCruise.
In
the 100m dash preliminaries, Ashlyn DeCruise ran the second-fastest
time in Mount history, posting a blistering mark of 11.89. She
finished seocnd in the finals with a time of 12.07
while twin sister Ashley DeCruise was second in the 200m dash with
a time of 25.26. Simpkins
earned a second-place nod in the 400m dash with a mark of 57.04
while Dana Collins was third in the pole vault and Sarah Klemic
fourth in the hammer throw.
