Landover, Md. (February 21, 2009)--The Mount St. Mary's men's and women's indoor track and field teams completed the first day of competition at the Northeast Conference Championships at the PG Sports and Learning Complex.

On the men's side, Tom FitzSimons finished eight in the long jump while freshman Rick Villanova was sixth in the pole vault to lead the Mount's performers.

Qualifying for finals were Chad Brown (60m and 200m dash), Julian Edwards (400m dash), Jason Kymingham (500m dash), William Mitchell (800m run) and FitzSimons (60m hurdles).

For the women, Ashley DeCruise and Ashlynn DeCruise each qualified for the finals in the 60m and 200m dash. Sheena Simpkins earned a spot in the finals in the 500m dash, Brianne Vozzella in the 800m run, and Samantha Willox in the mile run.

The NEC Championships conclude tomorrow.
