Women's Soccer Clipped by Wagner, 2-0, in Season Finale

Staten Island, N.Y. (November 2, 2008)--Wagner defeated Mount St. Mary's, 2-0, in women's soccer action on Sunday afternoon in the Mount's final game of the 2008 season. With today's loss, the Mount finishes the season with a 2-16-1 overall record and a 1-7-1 mark in the Northeast Conference.

Wagner (4-11-4, 2-6-1 NEC) used a pair of early first half goals to earn the victory. Terryn Marette scored 9:48 into the game for teh first goal of the contest. Jessical Balling added a goal just over five minutes later to round out the scoring in the game.

Wagner held an 18-13 advantage in shots in the contest. The Mount's Meghan Haspert (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg) paced the offense with four shots in the game, three on goal.

Mount freshman goalkeeper Alicia Miller (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) made five saves while not allowing a goal in the second half for the Mount. Miller finished the season with 128 saves, breaking the Mount's single-season mark of 124 set by Anna Lebo in 2006. Amanda Kitzmiller (Mine Hill, N.J./Morris Catholic) made one save while allowing two goals in the first half.

Leslie Reed made seven saves in the shutout win for Wagner.
