Annapolis, Md. (January 19, 2008)--Sheena Simpkins
won the 400m run at the Navy Invitational to pace the Mount St.
Mary's Indoor Track and Field teams.
Simpkins took the 400m run with a mark of 58.82, ahead of James
Madison's Cate Tisinger (59.56). Fellow freshman Ashlynn DeCruise
placed second in the 200m dash with a mark of 26.44s while twin
sister Ashley DeCruise was third in the 55m dash with a time of
7.25s. Liz Kessler turned in a second-place mark in the mile run
as well for the Mount. Sarah Klemic was the Mount's other top five
performer with a fourth-place finish in the weight throw.
On the men's side, Brent Dawson placed fourth in the 800m run while
Morgan Sowell was fourth in the 1000m run. Quenton Beard added a
fifth-place mark in the 55m hurdles while Lamar Clayton was third
in the triple jump. Freshman Tom Fitzsimons was third in the
heptathlon for the Mount.
