Pittsburgh, Pa. (September 7, 2007)--Duquesne
defeated Mount St. Mary's, 3-0, in a non-conference matchup at the
Duquesne Invitational on Friday night. Anna Lebo
(Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) made eight saves for the
Mount, which drops to 0-3 on the season.
The Dukes (2-1) carried play in the first half, breaking on top
when Samantha Kaiser scored on an assist from Faye Rasmussen 29:46
into the contest. Duquesne outshot the Mount, 12-2, in the first
half.
The score remained 1-0 until Audra Matthews sealed the win on a
feed from Kelly Reed with 5:23 left in the game for a 2-0 Duquesne
advantage. Shelley Esposito rounded out the scoring with a goal
with 1:19 left in the game. Reed added an assist on the play.
The Dukes outshot the Mount, 27-5, in the game with Lebo making
eight saves to pace the Mount.
Mount St. Mary's returns to action at 3:00 p.m. tomorrow against
Army in the second game of the Duquesne Invitational.
