(September 14, 2007)--Four different players scored to
lead Mount St. Mary's past Saint Peter's, 4-1, in women's soccer
action at Jaroschak Field on Friday afternoon. The win was the
Mount's first of the season after opening the year with four
losses.
The Peahens (0-6) scored
the first goal of the game when Kyle Marsh converted a cross for a
1-0 lead 9:38 into the game. The Mount got even just under six
minutes later when Karyn Farrar (Mount Airy, Md./South Carroll)
scored her 15th career goal. Farrar's score was the Mount's first
of the season, snapping an eight-game scoreless streak dating back
to last season. Farrar's 15 goals move her into a tie for third
all-time at the school with Carole Fournier (1992-94).
Samantha Roos (Frederick,
Md./Frederick) gave the Mount the lead for good 12:41 into the
second half when she converted an Erin Canning (Massapequa,
N.Y./Massapequa) pass for a 2-1 advantage. Emily Menotti (Dover,
Pa./Dover Area) scored with just under 23 minutes left to give the
Mount a two-goal advantage while April Plasha (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus)
scored her first collegiate goal with 36 second left in the game to
seal the victory.
Anna Lebo (Walkersville,
Md./Walkersville) made three saves to earn the victory in goal for
the Mount. The Mount outshot Saint Peter's, 26-5, in the game,
including 12-1 in the second half.
The Mount returns to action
with a 1:00 p.m.game at American.

Notes: The victory was the first for first-year head
coach Tom Gosselin...Farrar now has 35 career points, third on the
Mount's all-time list...The Mount has opened the season with five
straight games away from home.
